Elementary and secondary staff will participate in required Occupational Health and Safety 
Compliance Training. Learning will focus on legislative and workplace responsibilities, safe work 
practices, employee well-being, emergency procedures, and compliance with board and 
provincial requirements. This professional learning supports safe and healthy learning and 
working environments for students and staff and aligns with HWDSB's commitment to student 
and workplace well-being. 

Topic 2: PM - Consistent Classroom Delivery and New Curriculum Updates

Description: 
Educators will engage in professional learning focused on Consistent Classroom Delivery and 
New Curriculum Updates, one of the Ministry of Education's mandatory PA Day topics for the 
2026-27 school year. School teams will review evidence-informed instructional planning, 
assessment, evaluation, and reporting practices that support improved student achievement, 
well-being, belonging, and engagement. Learning will support implementation of Ministry 
curriculum updates, including the revised Kindergarten Curriculum, new Black History learning 
in Grades 7 and 8 History. This learning will be facilitated by HWDSB system and school 
administrators.

Educators will participate in professional learning focused on Special Education and Individual 
Education Plans (IEPs), a mandatory Ministry PA Day topic for 2026-27. Learning will deepen 
understanding of provincial standards and board expectations related to IEP development, 
implementation, monitoring, assessment, evaluation, and reporting. Staff will review effective 
practices for supporting students with special education needs and strengthening family 
engagement throughout the IEP process. This learning is intended to support equitable access, 
improved student outcomes, and inclusive learning environments.  

Topic 2:  PM - Cyber Safety and Artificial Intelligence

Description: 
Educators will engage in professional learning focused on Cyber Safety and Artificial 
Intelligence, a mandatory Ministry PA Day topic for the 2026-27 school year. Learning will 
strengthen staff capacity to support the safe, ethical, and responsible use of digital technologies 
and artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. Sessions will increase awareness of 
cybersecurity risks, privacy requirements, digital citizenship, and responsibilities related to 
student safety and information security. Educators will explore practical applications and 
considerations for emerging technologies while promoting responsible digital practices across 
school communities.

strengthening student achievement, engagement, well-being, and belonging through consistent 
implementation of Ministry requirements and evidence-informed instructional practices. 
Principals and vice-principals will develop school-based agendas that align with Ministry 
expectations while reflecting local school priorities and student needs.
